The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre was the location for the biannual Austmine conference held last week and MICROMINE was front and centre at the event showcasing the latest innovations in mining software solutions.
As one of Australia’s premier mining events, Austmine brings together representatives from the Mining, Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) sector and global mining resources companies for 2 days packed full of presentations, exhibition, networking opportunities and much more. The theme for this year’s event was Mining Innovation: The Next Horizon, providing an opportunity for attendees to delve into the next phase of innovation that is critical to a sustainable future for the mining industry.
MICROMINE was a silver sponsor of the event and also exhibited its intuitive mining software solutions to attendees at the event.
MICROMINE Commercial Manager Jens Lodders said the Austmine event provided a great opportunity to discuss collaboration within the industry.

MICROMINE provided sneak peeks of its upcoming new product releases for Geobank 2020 and Micromine 2020, both due for release later in the year. Many attendees took the opportunity to participate in live demonstrations of the software and experience the exciting new features and enhancements.
Pitram’s new AI and machine learning functionality was demonstrated at the MICROMINE booth through the use of a Lego underground loader. The new feature uses computer vision and deep machine learning to optimise the underground load, hauling and dumping process.
“There are some exciting projects happening at MICROMINE and it was great to be able to share some of our latest product innovations with attendees at Austmine 2019” Mr Lodders added.
MICROMINE held a mini-golf hole-in-one competition throughout the event which was hugely popular with attendees. The eventual winner took home a bottle of whiskey, a MICROMINE merchandise pack and access to 5 days use of Micromine software.
MICROMINE brand ambassador Mr. MICROMINE also flew in for the event and was a huge hit, posing for selfies with the crowd and handing out free hugs.
The Austmine awards dinner took place on the Wednesday night during Austmine where MICROMINE was recognised as a foundation member of Austmine, MICROMINE has been a proud member of Austmine since 1989. The award was received by MICROMINE’s Paul Hooykaas, who has been with the company since its inception.
